The Green Building Council Italia is a non-profit consortium sponsored by Società consortile Distretto Tecnologico Trentino born with the aim of:

- Encourage and accelerate the spread of a culture of sustainable housebuilding

- Raising public opinion and institutions on the impact that the design and buildings’ construction have on the citizens life’s quality

- Provide clear benchmarks for the stakeholders.

GBC Italia propose itself to introduce the independent LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification into Italy. The parameters of this set out specific design and development criteria for the development of healthy buildings that are energy efficient and of low environmental impact.
